Girls' Gaelic

2nd Mar 2020

Our girls' gaelic team competed today at the blitz in Station House Omagh.

Section ‘A’ contained St. Patrick’s P.S. Gortin; Roscavey P.S. and Drumduff P.S. A series of enthralling games followed. Most of the matches went to the wire. Roscavey girls played some wonderful football. Ultimately, though, their efforts were just not enough to gain a place in today’s Heat Final.  Drumduff topped the group with a perfect 2 wins from 2, and they were followed by runners-up Gortin.

Section ‘B’ comprised Tummery P.S. Dromore; Knocknagor P.S. Trillick and Sacred Heart P.S. Tattyreagh. Knocknagor got off to a great start as the defeated Tummery 3 goals to 1 with Eimear Sweeney scoring all 3 goals and playing some wonderful football. Next up for Knocknagor was Tattyreagh and this was a very close encounter. Aine McCann and Eva McCann were both playing superbly in defence along with Tierna McCarney who pulled off some excellent saves in goal. Despite creating lots of opportunities, Knocknagor failed to take their chances and Tattyreagh managed to win by 1 goal to zero.

Knocknagor qualified from the group to play Drummduff PS in the semi final and this was another nail biting affair. Knocknagor gave absolutely everything and hit the woodwork in a very close encounter which they lost 1 nil. The girls can be extremely proud of their efforts. Well done to Drummduff PS who went on to win the tournament and move on to the next stage of the competition.
